The criteria for determining that it is social phobia are:
marked Fear of a situation in which it is placed in contact with unfamiliar people or possible scrutiny by others
Faced with the social situation feared the subject always responds with anxiety (panic, fits of rage, stiffening or escaping the situation)
The subject recognizes that the fear is irrational
The feared situations are avoided or endured with intense anxiety and discomfort
negative effects on the situation feared (avoidance, anxious anticipation, discomfort) restrict the operation of the subject in the scope of employment, education or social.
It is in the presence of a disorder of social phobia if the phenomena mentioned are not attributable to a medical condition, substance use or other psychiatric disorder is diagnosed.
The last point, in particular, tells us that if we are dealing with panic attacks, but these derive from the social situation for which the subject experiences discomfort, should not be the primary diagnosis of panic disorder, but social phobia.
